Wakah Tranquility

Can you see that small standalone wakah (wakaf: gazebo) over there? I picture myself sitting in that wakah with my missus. Overlooking the sea and so do I, she waddles her legs dangled from her beautifully painted kain batik jawa. Her white sheer cotton t-shirt shows me how smooth and fair her skin is. Her eyes half-lidded from the vibrant Terengganu sunlight that flickers at sea. I thought she is consistently smiling. She then sweeps aside her hair draped across her face behind her ear and looks at me.

"More tea, Abang?" she says, smiling.

I say 'sure, Sayang'. So she pours tea from the porcelain jug into my cup and later hers. She later places her henna painted hands on her lap. I tried hard not to hold her hand but I can't. I play with her fingers, brushing every detail of the skin that feels so soft, warm. That day, we gaze at the horizon without saying anything because I know, when she lays her head on my shoulder, I don't have to say anything to make the world beautiful because she is my world.

  3. Hopelessly romantic...
For a while, I was quite sure I would move from KL to KT until reality strikes...:)

  4. You know, your idea of romantic getaway is exactly the opposite with mine. I always imagine my missus and I both holding hands on top of the Eiffel Tower in the City of Lovers, while you imagine yourself sitting in a gazebo with your missus overlooking the sea while she pour in you a cup of teh tarik.

    Interesting.

  9. Fikri,
When you get older, you don't care about fancy things anymore. All you care is that, you want your love blooms like sakura in spring.

Hey, thanks for the word! It's 'gazebo' eh? Dunno know how to pronounce that. :D

  13. Just finalised purchase a piece of 'vacant' land not far from the pix. In my case the wakah (wakaf) is built just under an old pokok Rhu.

Yes, having travelled the world, I'm now ready to come home and settled for a sedate half-retirement - a beach house with a wakah.

You can a man out of Terengganu, but you can never take Terengganu out of a man ;-)

  15. Bluey,
I see. Now I know you're fair of skin. Any hints you willing to share? Mata sepet perhaps?

By saying 'peranga cam orang jepung' he means... being extremely polite. :)

  16. Anon,
Seriously I love the scenery of Kampung Kelulut, Marang. Funny thing is, I never had explored the kampong beyond the pintu gerbang. Maybe one day I will. Guess you're purchasing a piece of land nearby Kelulut Village. Maybe not. Wherever your future wakah is, I'm very sure you've taken a right decision. Nothing can beat the tranquility of Terengganu beaches.

You can take a man out of Terengganu, but you cannot take Terengganu out of a man. :)

Thanks for visiting, sir/ma'am. Please kang egeng*!

    *kang egeng = come again

  23. eh bluey, i thought japanese didn't really have a word for 'love'... not that it didn't exist, it's just that they're more 'control macho' type to just re-use the word 'like'.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mr. Tea Drinker,
So sorry can't help you there. I'm not familiar with anything Japanese except for Doraemon, Dragonball Z, and selipar...my grandmother was Japanese. I'm Kelantanese...and prefer it that way :)

Mek Kelate. With a bit Japanese blood running in your vein. Must be a good looking phenotype. Gosh I would like to date you so bad.

Had a cousin married with a Kelantanese. A Tumpat lady. She doesn't look Oriental even though she has Korean blood.

By the way, I'm a product of multi-racial marriage, having Chinese, Javanese, and Melayu Pantai Timur in my genome. That's multi too right?

Sorry I look very Melayu (dark shade of sawo matang) despite the big fuss I just made about my family pedigree.

Guys, I'm being honest there. That's how a man like me sees a woman. That's a complex kinda love embroidered with 'lust' that you women might hard to understand. For crying out loud, I'm married, have you forgotten that already? I am a man and there's nothing you can do about it. Ha! Ha!
